Hey! Welcome to the Pokémon Legacy RPG!

What is Legacy?

We're a writing based roleplay forum. That means there is nothing at all to download. You will be writing your own adventure by interacting with other characters on the site. There are a few rules and tools you'll need to learn but don't worry too much about those just yet. This is a learn as you go system. The important thing you need to know about us right now is, you don't play this game by yourself. So, if you don't have a friend to RP with, please come into chat or use our General discussion to find someone. Using our tools and references, you and your RP partner will create your own adventures!

We're all about roleplay and flexibility here. We want you to be able to experiment, play who you want to play, do what you want to do, and have fun in the world of Pokémon. We aim to stay faithful to many of the concepts from the video games- do you want to grow berries? do you want to breed your pokémon? - but we also are a little more realistic than what a video game can allow. We have a full, open world for you to explore, and we've put a lot of work into making it great. This site has been around since 2001, in fact- we're the oldest running Pokémon RPG on the net. What kind of world is Legacy about?

The main region of Legacy is called Opaddeka. This is a modern region with all of your modern conveniences. There are vehicles, computers, gyms and a Pokemon League. You can own your own home and build your own farm. Pokemon trainers can do more than battle and capture pokemon here. There are also mythical guardian beasts, legendary Pokemon, and magical items to be found - if you know where to look. Opaddeka is run by a government based on Democracy and tends to suffer from the political turmoil any government might. It has survived the sudden the appearance of an entire society from another dimension, strife between countless Pokemon based teams, sudden attack from rampaging Ledendary Pokemon, War with its neighbor to the North, and most recently, Civil unrest from the notorious Team Rocket. Just when you think everything is going to calm down, something new and exciting happens in Opaddeka!

There is also a more primitive region to the North of Opaddeka called Jgsei. This region was once the Altantis of its time - the epicenter of technology. Their history suggests that the ancients went too far, wanted too much power, and nearly destroyed everything. The details of this forgotten time are lost but the results have had a lasting effect. The people of Jgsei shun technology. You will find many primitive peoples who live off the land in Jgsei. What technology you do find will take you back to the 18th century with a steampunk spin.
